More details
The Mercedes-Benz 500 E stands as a pinnacle of early 1990s performance sedans, born from a unique collaboration between Mercedes-Benz and Porsche. As part of the W124 series, this model was meticulously engineered to incorporate a 5.0L V8 engine, paired with a specially tuned chassis to manage its increased performance. While Mercedes focused on their S-Class development, Porsche was tasked with modifying and assembling the 500 E at their Zuffenhausen facility, where each example required an impressive 18 days of hand assembly.
With its understated design, widened stance, and aggressive capabilities, the 500 E offered effortless performance wrapped in executive-class refinement. Capable of sprinting from 0-60 mph in just over 6 seconds, it was often referred to as a “wolf in sheep’s clothing.” For 1994, Mercedes updated its nomenclature, renaming the 500 E as the E500, further embedding it into the marque’s evolving legacy.
This example remained with its original owner until 2020. It has recently benefited from servicing.
With its combination of performance, craftsmanship, and rarity, the Mercedes-Benz 500 E is increasingly sought after as a modern classic, equally suited for spirited weekend drives or display at enthusiast events.
