The 2000 Ferrari 550 Barchetta is a rare and exhilarating open-top version of the Ferrari 550 Maranello, with just 448 examples built to celebrate Pininfarina’s 70th anniversary. This particular Barchetta, chassis number #316, is finished in black over a matching black leather interior. It comes equipped with sought-after factory options, including Scuderia shields, red brake calipers, large racing seats covered in Connolly leather, and a small spare tire wheel kit.

Having been meticulously maintained by collectors over the years, this Barchetta is in immaculate condition. It retains all the original components as delivered from the factory—complete with books, tools, and the unique snap-on convertible top, which was more of a temporary cover than a permanent roof. The car has undergone a recent major service.

The 550 Barchetta boasts the same thrilling performance as the 550 Maranello coupe, with its front-mounted 5.5-liter V12 engine producing 485 horsepower. This powerhouse is paired with a six-speed manual gearbox, allowing the car to accelerate from 0-60 mph in just 4.3 seconds and reach a top speed of 185 mph. To distinguish the Barchetta from the coupe, Ferrari added a lower, more raked windshield and striking 19-inch five-spoke Speedline alloy wheels. The car’s aerodynamic enhancements, including functional rollover hoops, give it a bold roadster stance while maintaining the marque’s signature blend of elegance and aggression.

First offered in 2003 by The Auto Gallery in Woodland Hills, CA, with just 698 miles, and later by Autosport Designs in 2013 with 1,800 miles, this Barchetta has had a well-documented history. It was even showcased at the prestigious The Quail event in Carmel Valley, CA, in 2018 by Scott and Andrea Kimmelman.

Designed by Pininfarina’s Lorenzo Ramaciotti, the 550 Barchetta carries on Ferrari’s front-engined V12 legacy, which had been dormant since the Daytona 365 GTB/4 of the early 1970s. Its introduction marked Ferrari’s return to producing proper front-engined grand tourers, paving the way for models like the 599 GTB and F12 Berlinetta. As a part of Ferrari’s flagship series, the 550 Barchetta combines modern performance with classic Ferrari charm, making it a highly desirable collectible.
