More details
Ferrari's legacy is deeply intertwined with racing, and the 1995 Ferrari F355 Berlinetta Coupe, VIN #00433, stands as a testament to this enduring spirit. Originally a street-legal US-spec car, this F355 evolved into a race car that embodies resilience and dedication.
This F355, finished in Rosso Corsa with yellow Momo livery and equipped with black fabric racing seats, was purchased new in 1995 from Wide World Ferrari in Spring Valley, NY. Its journey to becoming a race car began dramatically when it was stolen in 1996 and stripped of major components. Fortunately, it was recovered and acquired by Kevin Ryan and Servizio in March 1997. Their vision was to transform it into a race car for the Speedvision Cup series, investing over $300,000 in custom modifications including carbon fiber doors, a custom roll cage, MOTEC engine management, and a race-tuned interior.
By 2001, the project was 75% complete when Ryan lost interest. Jeff Ippoliti took over in 2002, bringing the car to its full potential. Enhancements included a carbon fiber front splitter, rear wing, Penske 3-way adjustable racing shocks, a new fire suppression system, and an upgraded MOTEC system. These modifications, combined with engine mapping and dyno testing, pushed the car to an impressive 433.9 hp.
The Ferrari F355 Challenge played a pivotal role in Ferrari's presence in the gentleman’s racer arena, with the series requiring specific modifications for safety and performance. This included Brembo brakes, Speedline magnesium wheels, Pirelli racing slicks, competition springs, a roll cage, racing bucket seats, and a host of other enhancements. Our F355 GTB, however, goes beyond these class restrictions, creating one of the fastest and most powerful F355s ever built.
Accompanied by extensive documentation, including photographs and records of its storied history, this F355 is a symbol of Ferrari's dedication to racing excellence. With around 11,300 street-going F355s produced, this model stands out for its transformation from a street car to a race-ready machine, showcasing the adaptability and enduring performance of Ferrari's engineering.
VIN #00433 isn't just a car; it's a narrative of transformation, resilience, and the relentless pursuit of speed. It's a celebration of Ferrari's racing heritage, pushing boundaries and surpassing expectations. This F355 Berlinetta Coupe remains a remarkable example of how Ferrari's racing spirit can be embodied in a single, extraordinary vehicle.
