More details
The 1988 Lamborghini Countach 5000QV features a 420 bhp, 5,167 cc DOHC V-12 engine with Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection, five-speed manual transmission, front and rear independent suspension with coil springs and telescopic shock absorbers, and four-wheel ventilated disc brakes and represented the third evolution of the Series I Countach model which made its debut at the 1971 Geneva Auto Show.
Designer Marcello Gandini’s innovative ideas brought Lamborghini out of the sixties and firmly into the brave new era of the early 1970s with the ground-breaking wedge shape, signature scissor doors Countach, effectively creating what has to be one of the most recognizable and iconic cars ever made.
Cosmetically over time, Countachs did not change very much other than the addition running boards, wings and vents to help cool the engine and brakes adding a bit of downforce flair to the already over the top dramatic style.
Lamborghini did revise, refine and upgrade mechanical performance of the Countach numerous times over the course of its 16-year production run. At the heart of the matter of was always the Lamborghini V12 engine, first in carbureted format and the later fuel injected version. In the third version, the 5000S QV, Lamborghini increased cubic displacement to 5,167 cubic centimeters, four valves per cylinder and fuel injection which increased horsepower to 420BHP.
Perhaps most importantly, Countachs have always held the interest of collectors which continue to purchase the cars anticipating values to increase and the market has responded.
This Countach 5000 QV (#12389) in highly desirable black with gold phone dial wheels, crème interior and showing only 12,595 miles.
