On the introduction of the 355 at the Geneva Auto Show in 1994 for the model year
1995, it was very well received by automotive media and Ferrari enthusiasts alike. The
American publication Motor Trend praised the 355 as “the best-looking Italian body
since Michelangelo’s David.”

The F355 was among the first of the Ferraris to be shaped in the Maranello wind tunnel
lending a more refined aerodynamic shape and elegant look to the sporty car. The
lineage of classic Ferrari lines included two dramatic air intakes low on the doors and
along the running boards, a departure from the larger raked intakes of the previous 348
models. Likewise, safety features which were emerging in the 90’s such as anti-lock
brakes and airbags were also standard on the 355s.

In 1995, Ferrari introduced the GTS model to the F355 family. The GTS model is based
on the Berlinetta but offers a removable “targa-style” hard top roof, which stows away
behind the seats. Other specifications were identical to the Berlinetta. A total of 2,577
GTS models were produced, with 2,048 delivered with the 6-speed transmission and
another 529 with the F1 transmission.

June 2016 on the preliminary list of Ferraris to be auctioned by Bonhams at
their Greenwich (CT) sale. This GTS was finished in August 1997 trimmed in
the classic color scheme Corsa Red over tan leather-the exact same as the
F355 in Goldeneye. While the new semi-automatic F1 gearbox was now available in the
355, the original owner seems to have made the wise choice and saved himself the
optional-F1 gearbox’s extra cost and gone for the now much more desirable standard 6-
speed gated manual.

Passing through a handful of owners in Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Texas and Ohio,
only about 1,125 miles have been added with each passing year. Now showing just
under 21,400 miles on the clock, the Ferrari has received a recent engine-out belt
service during which both tensioner were replaced in addition to the installing of a new
water pump. The required annual maintenance has also been completed. This
example also includes its original books and tool roll, plus a copy of its clean CarFAX
report.

January 2017 present at the Cavallino Classic 26 Concorso d’Eleganza,at
Palm Beach, FL/USA. Entered by Warren Aplin. Red with tan interior. FL

September 2020 offered on BringATrailer by seller Swiftmotoring in Jupiter,
FL/USA. Six-speed manual gearbox and is finished in Rosso Corsa. The cabin
is trimmed in tan leather with matching carpets and door panels, black trim,
and a two-tone dash.

The current owner purchased the car in July 2016 and has since added approximately
1,300 of the 23k miles shown. Equipment includes a color-matched removable targa
roof, pop-up headlights, 18″five-spoke alloy wheels, four-wheel ventilated disc brakes
with black Ferrari calipers, a gated shifter, air conditioning, power windows, and a stereo
from a later 360 model. An engine-out service to replace the timing belt, water pump,
and spark plugs was performed in 2016 at 21k miles.

This F355 GTS is now offered on behalf of the current owner with an owner’s
manual, service records, a fitted car cover, a clean CarFAX report showing 6
previous owners, and a clean Florida title in the owner’s name. Same plates
as at Cavallino 2017; seller must be Aplin.
